What is the major difference between Virgin and American Airlines?

Virgin or Virgin America is the brainchild of Sir Richard Branson, a UK entreprenuer, and was founded in 2004. Although it is not part of the Virgin group of companies it does partner with a number of these. Virgin has one hub airport at San Francisco. American Airlines was founded in 1930 and has 4 hub airports at Dallas, Miami, New York and Chicago.
