When is it illegal to sound your horn?

as stated in the highway code, the most appropriate time to sound your horn is to alert other road users of your presence when you are not clearly visible. (e.g. when approaching a sharp narrow corner of road that you cannot fully see oncoming traffic, thus therfore avoiding a possible collision.)
