How did people in Britain react to the US inquiry?

It was often felt that the Americans had no right to subpoena Titanic's crew and conduct an investigation, but it's an unfair opinion. The US owned the Titanic, but the Titanic was run by British safety standards. The US inquiries wanted to find exactly what went wrong, who was to blame, and what could be done to improve ship safety, while the British wished to find out what went wrong, but continue with the shipping business. It was felt by the British that it wasn't any of America's business.
