Aristotle was a Greek philosopher. He developed 2 kingdoms in which to classify organisms. They were 'plant' and 'animal'. Under the animal category were 3 more specific ones- animals that lived in the water, on land, and in the sky. Under the plant category was flower, shrub, and tree. His system isn't used any more because it had too many exceptions. Where would a mushroom go? An ostrich had wings but couldn't fly; same with chicken. Where would they go?
