When were illuminated letters created?

1943 - it was the year of the dog if i remember correctly. First invented by a German scientist named turd Ferguson with his assistant schvetc. Schvetc pressurized noble gases and ran a current through them inside of glass tubes. While showcasing his discovery to his assistant one of the glass tubes shattered in his face sending a peice of glass into his tongue causing fatality.
