That would be like it's 'in the bag' or a guarantee.

or like it's definitely going to happen.

I think maybe the complete idiom is 'get a shoe in the door" (get a shoe in). It means to wheedle/pressure your way into something.

Like if you get your shoe in the door then somebody can't close the door on you.
