How diamonds are refined?

Diamonds undergo a multi-step refining process

To replace rough stones in the magnificent gems used in jewelry. Here is how natural diamonds are usually refined:

1. Diamond mining

The diamond is extracted from the earth through open-pit, underground , or alluvial mining methods. After mining, some diamond is resolved with other minerals.

2. Sorting and grading

The rough diamonds are sung by size, shape, color and clarity . This determines their potential use - whether they fit for industrial objectives or gems quality.

3. Plan and marking

Experts study each diamond using 3D modeling and laser mapping To decide the best way to cut it with maximum yield and talent .

4. Cleveing or saw

Large diamonds can occur in small, more managed pieces using clewed (split) natural grain lines or using saws or diamond-coated saws.

5. Booting (shaping)

This process shapes the diamond using another diamond or a special lathe in a basic round form (usually for magnificent cuts).

6. Vocal and polishing

7. Last grading and certification
