Deborah Simpson, also known as Deborah Sampson, fought in the Revolutionary War by disguising herself as a man named Robert Shurtlieff. Enlisting in the Continental Army in 1781, she served for over a year and participated in battles, including the Battle of Yorktown. Her true identity was discovered when she was injured, but she was honorably discharged and later received recognition for her service, becoming one of the first women to serve in the military.
