What is preparedness?

Preparedness is the idea that certain species have a predisposition condition in a way that others do not have.

For example in the context of phobias, people develop a phobia against snakes and bugs easier than they do with electrical outlets for example. It is argued that the reason for this is preparedness, evolution has programmed us to acquire fear against the snake and bugs as opposed to electrical outlets(which is fairly new with respects to evolution).
