Why is the IOC country code for Morocco - MAR?

Probably derives from the French name for the country - "le Maroc". This country is a former French colony, and so still retains a fair amount of French influence. Also, there may be Another Country in the Olympics with an IOC code "MOR" and so Morocco went for an alternative.
