In what kind of soil do raspberries grow?

They grow best in rich,well-drained soil with a pH 6.0 - 6.5. Its good to add manure and compost like maybe once a year. They shouldn't be planted in an area were anything of the night shade family has grown in three years. These include vegetables like potatoes or tomatoes.
