Why population growth causes greater consumption of natural resources?

By the population increasing we will have to clear more land to make places for people to live which will kill our plants. If our plants start decreasing at a rapid rate our sources of food will also disappear with it. Also many animals would lose their homes and since we eat some of those animals our sources of food will also decrease.
