What affect did geography have on trade and cultural diffusion in Africa and Asia?

Since Africa contains the four major rivers(the Nile, Congo, Zambezi, and Niger), trade and other exchanges have taken place along those, therefore increasing cultural diffusion by that spread of good, and especially culture and ideas.
