What education is needed to become a drift racer?

Unfortunately, some kids who show potential as amateurs are often "home schooled" or drop out of school altogether. Even more so than in other professional sports, very few ever make a living racing dirt bikes. Just look at the current top 10 in American MX. Four of them aren't Americans. The 50th fastest guy in the US would make more money selling shoes. Think about it, only 49 guys in the whole country (and less than 100 in the world) are faster than this guy, and he makes less than fifty thousand a year!

I know it's hard when you're young to be realistic about the future, especially when you have a dream, but you should learn all that you can about as many things as you can just in case the Pro MX thing doesn't work out. It is possible to do both (school and MX). A racer with an education is much more valuable to teams and sponsors than just some "dummy" who only knows one thing. If you have a dream, that's great! Don't give up because it's hard. Anything worthwhile (racing and school) is going to be hard. Go to a Supercross or an Outdoor National and watch the guys racing for 20th place. That's your target.
