What is the value of a 1921 US Peace dollar?

Two different types of $1 coin were struck in 1921. You need to make sure yours has the Word PEACE on the back and that the eagle's wings are folded, not open.

The Peace design was only struck for about a month during 1921 so it commands a nice premium. Numismedia lists the following approximate retail values as of 04/2011:

Very worn condition - $78

Moderately worn - $89

Slightly worn - $100

Almost no wear - $151

Uncirculated - $246 to $5,720 depending on quality

If the eagle on the back of your coin has outstretched wings it's a Morgan dollar rather than a Peace dollar; both types were struck that year.
