What is an example of inventing race?

An example of inventing race can be seen in the classification systems developed during the 18th and 19th centuries, such as Linnaeus's taxonomy and the work of anthropologists like Samuel Morton. These systems categorized humans into distinct racial groups based on physical traits, often reflecting European colonial attitudes and justifying Imperialism. This classification oversimplified and distorted the complex genetic and cultural diversity among human populations, effectively creating socially constructed racial categories that have had lasting societal impacts.
