Was the quote 'A man got to do what he got to do' from 'Man and Superman' by George Bernard Shaw?

Character Jim Casy says it in "The Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck chapter 18 on page 306. Although I'm not sure if this is the saying's origins or if it's actually an old proverb.
