In Scotland, a mountain is classified as a Munro if it has a height of at least 3,000 feet (914.4 meters) above sea level. The classification is part of a list created by Sir Hugh Munro in the late 19th century. Munros are popular among hikers and climbers, and there are currently 282 recognized Munros in Scotland.
