How does each characteristic benefit primates?

The opposable thumb gave primates an ability to effectively grasp branches when climbing. It also gave them an Excellent ability to grasp and manipulate objects. Thanks to our opposable thumbs, the ancestors of humans figured out how to make stone tools, which eventually led to modern technology.
