What are gabriel's character traits from The Giver?

Gabriel is never really described other than he is a little boy with curly hair.

He is underdeveloped and is held back a year at the ceremonies you will know about if you read the book. You don't know his hair color,because the people can't see color so the author never tells you. Gabe's comfort object is a Hippo.
