I have a 42 inch Magnavaox flat screen and I want to use it as a computer monitor. A 15 pin video cable is normally used but the TV doesn't have one. How should I connect them?

Most large displays have HDMI inputs these days. The interface is primarily designed for HD sources such as DVD players but the signal format happens to be the same as a DVI output of a computer. Use a DVI to HDMI cable and select the resolution of the output to match the native resolution of the monitor. If the computer doesn't have a DVI output, they can be purchased as a separate card and installed in the computer in a few minutes. Warning: Plasma screens suffer from image burn. This happens when a static image is displayed on the screen for long periods of time. The image will appear as a shadow on any other image displayed on the screen. Once it is there, it is very difficult to remove it and often impossible to make it disappear completely. If you are using a plasma, take care not to leave the computer image on it for long periods of time. The problem is limited to plasma screens and does not affect LCD displays the same way.
