Why did William Morgan create the game of volleyball?

He wanted a sport similar to Basketball but without the running up and down the court, since not everyone can do that. He wanted teamwork to be an important factor. So, he set up a net and experimented with different balls (basketballs, basketball bladders), until Spalding invented the perfect ball for him.
