What happened in underworld during the adventure of Odysseus?

In the underworld, Odysseus talks to many of the dead such as his mother, Achilles, Ajax and many others. He also talks to Tiresias, who gives him the prophecy that he will return home to his wife and son, but all his men will die on the way. Tiresias also assists him by giving him instructions on how to get home.
