Theodore Judah, an American civil engineer and railroad planner, died on November 2, 1863, from yellow fever. He contracted the disease while in Panama, where he was overseeing the construction of the Central Pacific Railroad. His vision and efforts were pivotal in the development of the transcontinental railroad, but his untimely death cut short his contributions to this significant project.
