How do you know if you're becoming emo?

emo = tormented soul A lot of the times emos are known for depression and sadness. But that's not true for all of them. Some have fun and go around with others, but they still have depression on the inside. Someone will start to know if they are emo by listening to the music. If the music has turned into hardcore bands that started in the 1980s and has mutated into describing angst-filled bands. There are a lot of emotions involved. Moody/attitudes will happen. They will not feel understood. Some express themselves in poetry, music, and/or art. A lot of true emo people tend to be creative while expressing their lives and feelings. Hair styles. Not just hair styles, but everything above. (You aren't considered emo just because of your hair) Emo girls and guys usually wear their hair swept to one side. It is usually longer in front and shorter in back. But it doesn't have to be short. There are many creative, true emo people who have their own unique styles. Having a unique style is what makes up most of the emo in that person. Make-up. If your a guy, usually there is make-up involved. If you check the eye-lids who yourself or the person you assume to be emo, they will most likely have eyeliner on. Girls usually wear it more thicker than guys. But also, just like hair, emo make-up is done in a very unique, special way that fits the person's personality. NOT a true sign. Spreading around the media sources are "facts" that emo kids cut themselves. NOT TRUE! Most emo kids do not cut themselves. Some do. Just because a person cuts themselves don't not consider them a true emo. Clothing styles. Usually they are known to wear vests, skinny jeans, big plastic, non-expensive bead-like jewelry. Emo people are not always wearing black. In fact, most emo kids have multiple different colors combined in their outfits. Again, their styles will be unique and will reflect their personalities. This may help but I'm not totally sure. If you or someone you know does become emo, I would strongly recommend NOT cutting yourself. It ruins your body and it doesn't look pretty. My friend has cut herself in many places and know her self esteem is very low! She doesn't weat bathing suits, and she will usually wear a jacket/sweatshirt no matter how warm it is. I would definitely stay away from cutting.
