James M. Harvey (born September 21, 1833 in Monroe County, Virginia; died April 15, 1894 in Riley County, Kansas) succeeded Nehemiah Green as the fifth Governor of Kansas, serving between January 11, 1869 and January 13, 1873. Following the end of Harvey's term as Governor, Thomas A. Osborn (born October 26, 1836 in Crawford County, Pennsylvania; died February 4, 1898 in Meadville, Pennsylvania) became the sixth Governor of Kansas, serving between January 13, 1873 and January 8, 1877.
