Can you lay on your stomach in a tanning bed?

The previous answer is incorrect for most modern beds.

It varies from salon to salon based on their equipment. Most tanning beds will be just that... beds. You will get in, pull the top down, and lay there for the duration of your visit. There are also stand-up booths where you will stand, and in most cases, hold on to two handles or hanging loops to raise your arms to avoid tan lines down your sides.

Also, every bed is different. Some beds/salons may have a button that you must push when you are ready to start. This button may be on the bed or on the wall beside it. Some places will give you a few minutes to undress, put your lotion on and get in the bed, then it will start when that timer reaches zero or you press the start button.

Part of a salon consultant's job is to show you how to use the bed, so if you are unsure, just ask :)
