What does the down arrow on a bus timetable mean?

The arrow down and arrow up on a bus schedule (as well as a train schedule) indicates the direction of travel. If you have three cities, say Seattle, Renton, and Tacoma... The cities will be listed in the middle of the time table. An arrow, say, on the right pointing down shows the times from Seattle, then to Renton, then to Tacoma. An arrow, say, on the left side pointing up indicates the times for Tacoma to Renton and then to Seattle. You will notice that the times of the stops on the timetable make sense when you read the table in the direction of the arrow. For example: 1:00 pm. Seattle 1:45 pm. Renton 2:30 pm. Tacoma This would an "arrow down" example. An "arrow up" example would look like this: 5:00 pm. Seattle 4:15 pm. Renton 3:30 pm. Tacoma In this case, you read "up" to make sense of the timetable.
