What is difference between 3d and 2d system?

A 3D system is a system which has all the three dimensions of geometry, namely- length, width and depth. eg. A sphere, a rectangle, etc.

A 2D system is a system which has only two dimensions and can be generated on a plane. eg.- a square, a triangle, a circle, etc.
