In Australia there was a period of time when the Australian government decided that the indigenous parents of Australian aboriginal were not fit to raise their own children. Laws in Australia were designed to totally demoralize and break the indigenous population. they were not counted in the census they were not allowed to own land they were virtually enslaved to station owners or put on missions. I was told at school that these people wer vestiges of the stone age and that by taking their children from them their race would come to an end. so for a period of time children were kidnapped from Australian Aboriginals and raised as adoptees foster children or wards of the state.

These were referred to as "the stolen generation".
