Different parts of background checks go back different amounts of time. Address history usually goes back to the mid 1970's. Civil issues such as bankruptcies, tax liens, and judgments can only be reported for the last 10 years. The criminal portion can be searched as far into the past as you wish on a manual level. Generally only goes back seven years but you can add on additional search years if necessary.
