What does a diamond crystal look like?

The "ideal" diamond crystal is called an octohedron. If you take two - four sided pyramid shapes and put them together at the base, that's an octohedron. Square around the center "equator" and pointed at both ends.

Diamond crystal are seen in forms such as variable octahedron, cube, dodecahedron, twinned macle and combination of cubic forms.
