Why might a scientists falsify a study?

Perhaps a scientist is being paid a grant by the government for his research to help prove Global Warming is man made, and when the results do not agree, he is worried that he will lose his grant, so he falsifies a study.

Never do this. If you are caught, you could lose your whole career as a scientist.
