Who created the hammer between 1300-1800?

Neolithic man figured out how to bind a stone head to a wooden handle thousands of years ago. They had every bit as much use for a hammer as for an axe. How on earth could the ancient egyptians have made beaten gold objects without hammers, or carved heiroglyphs? Hammers have been around for thousands of years not just the last 7 or 800 years.
