Marland as the twenty-fifth Governor of West Virginia, serving between January 14, 1957 and January 16, 1961. Following the end of Underwood's term as Governor, William Wallace Barron (born December 8, 1911 in Elkins, West Virginia; died November 12, 2002 in Charlotte, North Carolina) became the twenty-sixth Governor of West Virginia, serving between January 16, 1961 and January 18, 1965.
