Does Target discriminate against gay people?

Target has a long history of supporting gay rights, and does not discriminate against its gay employees, BUT Target made a substantial contribution ($100,000) to a group supporting Tom Emmer, the Republican candidate for governor of Minnesota in 2010. Mr. Emmer is unquestionably anti-gay. (Target claimed it was because they supported Mr. Emmer's business and tax policies.)

As a consequence, a number of GLBT folks boycotted Target stores. Mr. Emmer lost the election.
