Are adult sites safe

"Adult" sites are usually not considered "safe" for children. Most of the time they display or discuss behavior and topics that children are not emotionally or intellectually prepared to deal with. A child of 8 might be able to read some adult's wierd fetish fantasy but may not really understand how far outside normal that fantasy is - hence warping their view of what is normal - or even normally acceptable. Children are not normally mature enough to fully judge the merits - or lack thereof - of extreme hate sites either. Similar arguments can be made for other types of "adult" sites.
