What is the reason for human history?

Without a past (History), there can be no future. The Question should be - How long is "Now"? Maybe, to learn from the mistakes of the past? Though it's very clear that we are not learning . . .

In line with the above someone once said 'the thing we learn from history is that we don't learn from history.'

Someone else said that history is 'His-Story' i.e. Jesus Christs.
