Is it bad if you think Black people smell funny?

No, it is not.

Overly sensitive and hyper-paranoid people may claim you are racist for even noticing a black person is black.

A wet dog smells like a wet dog, and everyone knows this smell that is why people use it as a referrence point, ie, "it smelled like wet dog".

Sulfur smells are often described as "rotten egg" smelling.

I think we all agree that most of our elderly family members smelled or do smell " like old people" and that is usually from their diet and medications.

Likewise blacks have a distinctive smell, some would say offensive, you describe it as 'funny', others would say "like saffron", etc.

That you know coffee brewing doesn't smell like bacon frying is not a bad or good thing in and of itself, it simply is an observation, not a judgment.

What you eat changes your body odor, Native Americans would often not eat meat for days before a hunt as they found that the animals could smell them and identify them as predators and would be more alert.

First Nation people were often described as smelling like grease or bears by early "Indian fighters" and since many tribes did coat themselves with bear grease this was a pretty accurate observation.

Spend any time in a Pizza shop, a Chinese reaturant or a bar room and you could be described as smelling like "a pizza shop" or a "Chinese reatuarant" or a "bar room". And while it may be said in a derogatory fashion to you or as a compliment, "hey, you smell great, just like my Dad's pizza shop!" that judgment is left to the individual.

Back to your original question, All you said was essentially that .."Black People smell 'funny' ie different to me..." that's an observation my friend, not a judgment, so NO, it is not bad and anyone that tells you an observation is bad is a bad person.
