What is biological classification?

Scientific classification is a method used by scientists to group different species of animals into categories. There are seven different levels within scientific classification, starting with the most broad group, to the most specific. They are named:

1) Kingdom
2) Phylum
3) Class
4) Order
5) Family
6) Genus
7) Species

In some cases Domain comes first.
