The Townshend Acts put duties on many things the colonists imported, including lead, glass, paper, paint, and tea. The colonists disliked this immensely as it was being taxed without being represented in Parliament. All the duties, with the exception of the one on tea, were repealed within 3 years. However, this did not end the tension between the colonies and Britain, eventually leading to the Revolutionary War.
