What happens the pressure as you travel down?

As you travel deeper into the Earth's atmosphere or into the ocean, the pressure increases. In the atmosphere, this is due to the weight of the air above, while in the ocean, it's caused by the weight of the water above. For every 10 meters (about 33 feet) you descend in the ocean, pressure increases by approximately one atmosphere (about 14.7 psi). This increase in pressure can significantly impact physical conditions and the behavior of gases and liquids.
