the jungle is basically a paradise- there is planty of fruit and pigs to eat, along with clean water to drink. This means that theonly problem the boys have is each other- not food supply. The first mark human make on the isand is the scar in the jugle which symbolises that humans destroy things, and foreshadows things to come.
