On most Ford Ranger models (i.e. before 2012) with an automatic transmission:

Back right hand side of the engine bay, passenger side, near firewall.

It characteristically has a colored handle (usually red or yellow) and will be labeled TRANS, or ATF.

Ford Rangers (not so old especially 2012 and later)

Later versions model has a sealed transmission system without a conventional dipstick. Fluid checks and refills should be performed under the vehicle in such situations (most often by a mechanic with a fill plug and scan tool to check temperature and fluid level).
