How many yards do you need to make a skirt?

It depends on the style of the skirt. A snug mini-skirt, for example, uses much less fabric than one of those full circle skirts that comes down past your knees and billows out around your waist when you spin in a circle.

The best way to figure this out is to find a pattern for the specific skirt that you want. Each pattern has a table telling you how much fabric you need.
