Why are french people bad drivers?

They aren't bad drivers and that isn't really

an official stereotype.

I'm British and I've lived in France for years and I can say that the French have a very poor standard of driving. This is confirmed by accident statistics. I can also say that's it's not only the French who can't drive well it's most of southern Europe.
