Who is the roman god of oceans and water?

Neptune was the lord of the sea. He was a good looking fellow, with deep blue eyes and green hair. Neptune was considered one of the most powerful gods. In only seconds he could make a new island appear. Greeks say that this is the reason why there are so many small islands in Greece. The Greeks by the shore were frightened of Poseidon. They built temples and brought him gifts there. Neptune was a very moody guy, so sometimes he was happy, and sometimes he wasn't. Because Neptune was so good looking, he had many wives. Even so, his main wife wasn't jealous, so he didn't have the same problems at home as Jupiter had with Juno. Neptune's Greek and original name was Poseidon.
