Where do all pipes and storm sewers go to?

Many "sewers" actually lead to bodies of water and not sewage treatment plants. I would love to post pictures of what happens in the creek that flows through my yard when people wash their cars. The newer sewer lids in my area are marked where they go, but many are not.
