What are the difference between safety officer and safety coordinator?

In many places there is no difference between safety officer and safety coordinator. In other places, the term "safety officer" may be used to indicate a person whose safety responsibilities include, or are primarily, the policing of safety procedures; while "safety coordinator" indicates a person whose safety responsibilities are broader and do not include policing.

In the safety profession, it is generally agreed that line management ought to be responsible for policing and enforcing safety practices, while the safety specialist (whatever he or she may be called) should be a source of knowledge and advice to management and to labor, as well as performing a variety of administrative and training functions related to safety.
