What did the theory of social Darwinism hold?

Scientist Charles Darwin's view of society based on his theory of natural selection or survival of the fittest.

Social Darwinism was not a theory in the scientific sense of the Word and did not originate with Darwin; in fact, he opposed the idea. Social Darwinism held that charity was counterproductive, because it helped people who, given natural selection/survival of the fittest, would not survive otherwise.
